Teaching

Teaching the Pagan tradition is a difficult art. One must be patient, inclusive and a good listener. On the other hand, teachers are due some respect from students, for the time and effort they put into teaching, if nothing else. Many people have poetically interpreted education to mean "drawing something out of a person" - this is the idea that the teacher merely elucidates insights that students already have. This is, indeed, often the case with Paganisms, but teachers can also hand on a body of lore from the tradition, and their own insights (which saves the student "reinventing the wheel"). A good Pagan teaching process should include both discussion (the talking stick format is very helpful) and more traditional forms of teaching.
