The body is the locus of religious experience. Although spirituality is often regarded as being about transcendence, Pagan spirituality explicitly celebrates the body and being embodied. One obvious inspiration here is the saying "All acts of love and pleasure are My rituals" (from The Charge of the Goddess), but in fact the emphasis on the body goes back to Friedrich Nietzsche and other thinkers.
Many Pagans embrace an ethic of living in the body, from treating it as a temple, to embracing lifestyles that include body modification, to regarding spirit as immanent in matter.
