Questionnaire response 22

Page history last edited by PBworks 17 years, 5 months ago

1. Name (optional): Alex Rigg

2. Age: young

3. Nationality: British

4. Gender: male

5. How would you explain your path to someone else with no knowledge of it?

Depends who they were. I personally don't believe I follow any path but my own

- its more of a self development workshop being here than following some

prediscovered path. To some people I would describe my path as a (pagan)

patchwork wiccan...

6. How is your path expressed in practice?

Practice as in communicating? I talk to them non stop! Mostly to Herne though,

I see the Lord and Lady as beings that wander through my world as my internal

and external seasons change (and I've found these do not necessarily occur at

the same time).

I do not need candles and knives for practice; I believe them to be but a

thought away. Meditation in a grove or in nature makes it easier for me to

contact elementals and spirits in that wood but Herne is with me always.

I also use the moon and the earth and the sun.

If the question was relating more to ritual I don't do ritual very often. If I

need an answer or perhaps merely a rest from life I create a circle somewhere

warm (like in the lounge) burn candles (within bowls of water) and lie in a

circle of crystals and incense, take myself deep within and ask the burning

questions. Mosly I merely get a sense of peace and I come to having slept more

deeply than I do in bed.

7. How do you know if your practice is successful?

I once lifted clear out of body while driving a car and was about to drive

through red traffic lights and more or less shouted for Merlin (first name that

came into my head) for immediate help... I was shoved roughly back and slammed

the brakes on in time - would have died or been in a very serious accident if

that result had not occurred.

Mostly though in non life threatening conditions I'm not entirely sure. I've

never had anything really clear, good luck that I ask for appears in a way that

is wonderful but not quite as I had envisioned..

8. Why have you chosen the particular path you are following?

I never really got on with the bible - pack of lies changed many times by the

church and Kings to fit with their ideals of public management. Paganism is a

free-er movement. My path is just what happens to me - I chose Herne because I

love forests - I feel quite sick when in places without forests - or at least

wild trees.

The moon is there it exists it does purely by its presence have an effect on us

and they have helped feed my energy at various times. Earth again is there, it

cannot be ignored. My energy work sometimes makes me very sensitive to lines of

power and energy coming up from Gaia to us.

The Lord and Lady I guess is questionable - though my dreams and meditations

often feature these two old ones. I find myself as a knight performing deeds

for her, and in return I am gifted some wonderous thing.

9. What is your experience of otherworld beings? Could you give some examples.

(see above)

Ghosts I've had plenty:

My parents lived in a 1900 farmhouse and in the newer section I opened the

lounge door and there in front of me was a woman with petticoat some kind of

small white cloth hat, hair pinned up, I'd say early victorian type appearence -

though I'm no historian.. She was glaring at me furious and quite frightening.

I closed the door took a few deep breaths and reopened it to find her still

there. (I did this because I started to think my imagination had created it..)

I closed the door again and shouted something like "get out, you'd better not

be there when I open this door again" made a great deal of clapping noises and

then opened the door and she had gone.

I saw her again later in the middle of the room but she didn't stay.

Later on same room I was sitting in the sun with my cat on my lap in front of

the TV (which was off). Warm day, dusty..

I had this very odd feeling behind me and I felt an odd kind of electric

feeling. The hairs on my neck and my head went up and My cat (who'd been

purring and circling for a more comfortable position) stuck her nails deep

into my leg, her hairs all went up so she became a ginger ball and then tail

under her legs shot out of the room like a rocket.

I knew something was odd - and it wasn't just my imagination... I managed (and

it was difficult) to turn my head and I saw a figure created in dust standing

about a metre behind me to the right..

It took an enormous effort but I managed to get up and walk out of the room and

close the door..

But you probably wanted spirits?

A while ago I found a nice old beach in the woods near Guildford, was sunny and

I could look up and see the leaves glowing greenly with the sun behind them. I

sat down and relaxed and meditated/dreamed with my head resting on the trunk.

Fairly quickly I felt myself in great danger - not evil but it was as though I

was sitting dangerously close to a torrent of water like a waterfall but going

up. And I was aware of these waterfalls going up all around me. - I'd say

fountains but fountains are man-made and the word doesn't convey the natural

power that I felt.

10. How do you see your relationship with them?

I see that I attract these things. The more open I become the more they are

attracted because some interaction can occur. I aim to become more sensitive

and yet also stronger because many of these experiences have shocked me deeply.

With Herne I feel a fondness a brotherhood perhaps something a great deal

deeper. With the moon also I feel she is like a sister perhaps, watching my

changes wanting me to continue to follow my path, achieve the results.

The Lord and Lady I feel are as much a part of me almost my female and male

aspects of myself. Things intertwined within me. - My core being, my higher

self.

11. How does your path relate to other areas of your life?

My path is my life.. My self development all the disappointments and failures

and the success and laughter are all part of this path.

12. How do you see the relationship of life and death?

I see myself as spirit in a phase where I create around me a physical

presence that in many ways is a semblance of the heavier aspects of my aura. I

believe you can read a great deal about a person by their outward appearance.

Death is merely the physical part dying off, bit like when a light bulb finally

goes. The power still is there, the potential for it is there, all you need is

to put another light bulb in and you have light.

I believe we are immortal in energy and we can remember all that has passed in

previous lives, Memory not being entirely contained in our brains (which is

often seen as more than merely a tool)

I think we are reborn again and again. And I also believe that beliefs that

think we come from other places or that we are here temporarily are damaging

because of the possibility that we have less regard for the Earth. If you know you

will keep coming back you are more likely to have strong Green ideas.

13. How do you see time?

Time is a non-linear thing. We invented clocks.. but even clocks tell non-

linear time. Clocks I believe tell a different time to the earth time. Earth

time is defined by sunrise and sunset, clock time is independent of that and

means we often don't allow ourselves enough rest time.

Time out of body becomes entirely irrelevant - we can exist in time or outside

time according to our will.

14. How do you handle ideas of good and evil?

No such thing as evil.

I believe that animals do things and they make mistakes, they are instinctual

and they sometimes do what they must to survive and sometimes they do things

because of their intellect, almost everything that is done changes how the

animal sees the world in some way.

Angels and Demons are one thing - same species so I don't see them as either

good or evil. Witchcraft is grey. Healing also is grey.

A great many people heal others in some way without permission (due to a third

party asking for the healing in some cases).

15. How do you view different spaces and objects in your practice or

experience?

Circles are a space in which a secure space (etherically) can be made.

Groves are again spaces... though not always that safe but are charged with

energy and ancient knowledge (you can tell I'm a druid) :)

Mead horns.. wonderful device. Great for drinking out of. Has no significance

to me other than holds lots of mead.

(YUM!)

Plastic: I abhor plastic. It's been proven that plastic materials leak substances

into liquid and food so you end up eating/drinking more than you bargained for.

It's about time we banned plastics and returned to using paper - which has the

advantage it can be recycled without causing yet more poisonous gases.

Stone, wood and wool are good materials that hold history of the energy around

them. Metal also, but the previous three I would use in preference.

16. How do you feel about other religions?

I have no problem with anyone's beliefs. I don't consider my path to be a

religion exactly. I actively dislike the Church and will argue any Christian

down who holds with the bible.

Any religion that sends its people to kill or blow themselves up, destroy, and/or

murder I believe to be deeply wrong. If a person decides to destroy it should be

made personally and with the knowledge that destruction achieves little.

Any religion that forces itself on others or says "thou shall not suffer a

witch to live" or similar wording is also deeply wrong.

No religion should force its words down anyone's neck, nor have people go round

and do things they don't want (like sell their religion like a door to door

salesperson)

17. How do you feel about science?

Science sometimes improves our lot - makes us yet more comfortable with our

powershowers, baths, heating and so forth. Solar panels and wind turbines are

wonderfull!

Science does take all paths and animal testing and GM type science I believe to

be a colossal waste of money and time. If we could only put all that into

alternative sources of energy!

Unfortunately science is based on one concept - repeated consistant results and

in some cases science/society have not approved perfectly good science. NHS for

example is now based on businesses selling them drugs - not the well-being of

the clients.

18. How do you feel modern Paganisms relate to ancient paganisms?

People change. In the end it's not that pagans are different it's that people

are different.

Paganism has had to conform to peoples, culture and belief systems, and I think

that all beliefs / religions do eventually. (look at how Christianity took on

many pagan festivals)
