Many Pagans (if not most) feel that identifying as Pagan is like coming home. At last, the seeking is over, and they have found a paradigm that fits. Some seekers will not find what they are looking for in Paganisms, or they will try out a variety of Pagan paths before finding the right one for them. Few Pagans would use the word conversion to describe the process of identifying as a Pagan, since it has connotations of being persuaded from outside, rather than an instinctual response from within. Nevertheless, Lewis Rambo's conversion model is useful in understanding the process of spiritual change that leads to identifying as a member of a religion.
